June 6 - SDMS Approves Gulfcoast Ultrasound as CME Credit Provider

Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute Inc., has been approved by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) to award SDMS continuing medical education credits through its core hands-on sonography courses. SDMS CME credits are recognized by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).

While Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute has been a provider of AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits for over 20 years, the ARRT no longer accepts courses approved solely by AMA for Category A credits as means for fulfilling CME requirements. Since SDMS CME credits are recognized by the ARRT, RTs can now attend the above mentioned courses and use the SDMS CME credits they earn as ARRT Category A CME hours.

The approved courses are:
• Intro to 2D/M-Mode Echocardiography and Cardiac Doppler/Color Flow Imaging: 27.5 SDMS CME credits—September 8-12, 2008 and December 8-12, 2008

• Introduction to Abdominal Sonography: 17.25 SDMS CME credits—July 28-30, 2008 and November 10-12, 2008
