The growing use of 3D printing in health care presents unprecedented potential for radiology departments. In this webinar, Dr. Jonathan Morris, codirector of the Anatomic Modeling Laboratory and Neuroradiologist at the Mayo Clinic, will share the history of 3D printing in medicine, and examine real-world case studies of how radiologists have successfully introduced 3D printing capabilities and programs into hospitals. Dr. Morris will walk through the complete workflow for producing 3D printed anatomical models from patient scans, and how any radiologist can implement a low-cost 3D printing operation, from software to setup. After Dr. Morris’ presentation, Amy Alexander, biomedical engineer in the Anatomic Modeling Lab at Mayo Clinic, will answer your questions on how to implement this new workflow in your institution. About Our Presenters Amy Alexander, BME, MS, is a biomedical engineer in the Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology’s Anatomic Modeling Lab in Rochester, Minn. In her role, Amy converts 2-D radiological images into 3-D models and patient-specific surgical cutting guides. These life-size, patient-specific models and guides help surgeons from different specialties prepare for complex procedures. Additionally, these 3D prints form a communication bridge for patients regarding their personal surgical plan. Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from MSOE’s Rader School of Business. She has served on the SME Medical 3D Printing Workgroup for three years, is a member of the Radiological Society of North America’s 3D Printing in Medicine Special Interest Group, and is certified in Additive Manufacturing through SME. She is an active member of BMES, RSNA, HIMSS, and SME. Gaurav Manchanda, Director of Healthcare Solutions, Formlabs, is an entrepreneur with experience bringing hardware, software, and systems from concept to market in the fields of healthcare, consumer devices, and mobile technology. After exploring 3D printed orthoses for his son, who has cerebral palsy, Manchanda joined Formlabs to lead medical initiatives. Previously, Manchanda founded and ran One Degree Solar, an award-winning supplier and pioneering service provider of energy solutions designed for families and small businesses without access to electricity. He also spent years in post-conflict Liberia as Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Health and consulted with the US government, advising the Liberian Rural and Renewable Energy Agency and publishing guiding documents for the USAID Powering Health Initiative. Manchanda has a degree in International Development and Technology Transfer from Tulane University and the School for International Training. |
